As one of the most basic components in the circuit, the resistance value is usually expressed by the color ring. Mastering resistance color ring reading is essential for electronics enthusiasts and engineers to help them quickly identify resistance values for circuit analysis and design.
Color ring basics:
The resistance color ring is usually composed of three to five color rings, starting from one end near the resistance, the first ring, the second ring... Each color represents a different number.
Four-ring resistance reading method:
Determine significant digits: The first two rings represent significant digits, for example, red (2) and yellow (4) represent 24.
Determine the magnification: The third ring represents the magnification, that is, adding several "zeros" after the significant number. For example, if orange represents 1000, the resistance value of the preceding resistance is 24000Ω, that is, 24 Kω.
Determine the error: The fourth ring represents the margin of error, which is usually represented by color as a percentage. For example, the gold color represents ±5%, indicating that the actual resistance value of the resistor is between 22.8kΩ and 25.2kΩ.
Five-ring resistance reading method:
Determine the significant digits: the first three rings represent significant digits, for example: brown (1) black (0) red (2) represents 102.
Determine the magnification: The fourth ring represents the magnification, the same as the four-ring resistance reading method.
Determine the error: The fifth ring represents the error range, the same as the four-ring resistance reading method.
